Empowering Communities to Rise, Strengthening Lives from Within
RYTHM Foundation works with grassroots partners across developing communities to improve lives, expand opportunities, and strengthen social and economic resilience.
Our empowerment initiatives support rural communities, vulnerable women, indigenous groups, and other marginalised communities that face barriers to opportunity, inclusion, and sustainable development. By working closely with local partners, we help communities identify their needs, build capacity, and create practical solutions that support long-term progress.
Projects under this pillar include community infrastructure, livelihood development, women’s empowerment, skills training, social inclusion, capacity building, and sustainable community development. These initiatives are designed to improve living conditions, strengthen local capabilities, and help communities become more self-reliant.
Through our empowerment work, RYTHM Foundation aims to create lasting change by helping underserved communities gain the tools, confidence, and opportunities they need to shape their own futures.

Women’s Empowerment
Gender Equality & Sustainable Livelihoods
Equal Rights, Independent Futures
The measure of a progressive society is when men and women enjoy equal rights across all levels. Gender equality is a fundamental human right, and its achievement has immense socioeconomic implications.
RYTHM works toward unshackling disadvantaged young girls and women from the chains of gender inequality and poverty to gain agency over their own lives. We hope to empower them to become independent through sustainable livelihoods, so that they can speak up and challenge entrenched narratives that defy gender equality.
Supporting Child Protection and Psychosocial Recovery, Sri Lanka
Implemented in partnership with LEADS Sri Lanka, this initiative provides therapeutic care and recovery support for vulnerable children through an integrated approach focused on protection, healing and reintegration. The programme delivers counselling, psychosocial support, safe shelter, healthcare, education assistance and recreational activities, while also strengthening family support systems and community-based care.
- 240 Child Survivors of Abuse (CSOAs) supported through counselling and psychosocial interventions
- 180 children engaged through educational and recreational empowerment activities
- 150 families supported through family-strengthening interventions
- 150 children safely reintegrated into protective family or community environments
- 299 residential counselling sessions and 12 individual sessions conducted for emotional and psychological support
- 27 psychosocial training sessions delivered at child protection and rehabilitation centres
Safer Cities for Girls, India
The Safer Cities for Girls project in Gautampuri, South Delhi, aimed to create safer and more inclusive urban spaces for adolescent girls by addressing gender-based violence, restricted mobility, and discriminatory social norms. Through youth leadership, community mobilisation, public awareness, and institutional advocacy, the project empowered girls as changemakers while strengthening support from families, communities, and local authorities for gender-responsive safety.
- 59,050 beneficiaries reached, including over 55,600 individuals through public awareness campaigns
- 2,030 adolescents mobilised, with 330 trained as Champions of Change youth leaders
- 440 girls trained by Delhi Police in safety and self-defence, with several becoming peer trainers
- 90 of 98 identified unsafe public spaces addressed, making 92% of targeted areas safer
- 850 parents engaged through 30 intergenerational dialogues on gender and safety
- 45 domestic violence cases supported through community-based response and referral mechanisms
Maharani Programme, Malaysia
The Maharani Programme, comprising the Maharani School Programme and Maharani Learning Lab, is a flagship initiative that empowers women and girls through education, life skills development, and confidence-building. Designed as a platform for personal growth, the programme nurtures leadership, self-expression, and resilience, enabling participants to navigate challenges and realise their potential within their communities.

- Achieved: Demonstrated improvements in leadership, self-confidence, communication, and teamwork, alongside increased engagement in learning, digital skills development, and personal growth among participants

Community development is essential for laying the foundation to improve the lives of global citizens. All over the world, collective action is urgently needed to address the world’s most pressing social and economic problems.
RYTHM Foundation proactively engages and works with communities around us to identify their challenges and meet their needs for socioeconomic growth and progress. We believe that with equal and equitable access to resources, underserved communities can achieve greater heights and build a sustainable legacy for their future generations.
Supporting Indigenous Progress through CAP and INDEP
RYTHM Foundation’s Indigenous Development Programme (INDEP) works directly with Indigenous communities on short-term, targeted initiatives that respond to urgent needs — while planting the seeds for long-term, self-driven change.
INDEP is part of our broader Community Adoption Programme (CAP), which supports marginalised groups through education, capacity building, and sustainable livelihood projects.
Both are grounded in the same principle: real change happens when communities lead the way, not through handouts, but through respect, partnership, and action.
Community Adoption Programme, Sabah, Malaysia
The Community Adoption Programme in Kiulu, Sabah, supported indigenous children, youth, and women across three villages from April 2021 to March 2024. Through tuition classes, youth-led eco-tourism, and women-led micro-enterprises, it improved access to education, strengthened livelihoods, and encouraged community ownership. The initiative has been submitted to the World Economic Forum’s Future of Inclusion Lighthouse Programme 2025–26 as a scalable inclusion model supporting education, livelihoods, and women’s empowerment among indigenous communities in rural Sabah.
CAP Sabah: Three Years of Grassroots Change — Read the final report on how our Community Adoption Programme collaboration boosted education, youth ecotourism and women-led enterprises in Sabah, Malaysia.
- 148 beneficiaries reached through education, youth empowerment and women’s economic development initiatives
- 103 children attend tuition classes, with 99% achievements in reading, writing and counting milestones
- Over 1,800 visitors engaged through youth-led eco-tourism initiatives
- Youth participants generate average monthly earnings of approximately USD 75 to USD 190 by 2024
- 23 women launch micro-businesses producing local delicacies
- Women entrepreneurs generate approximately USD 7,500 within 16 months, reflecting a 45% to 231% income growth
Volunteer Development Programme (VDP), Malaysia
Designed to strengthen volunteerism as a driver of social impact, this programme focused on equipping individuals with the skills, knowledge, and mindset needed for effective community engagement. Through structured training and guided participation, it supported the development of capable and purpose-driven volunteers.
